PriceBlink: Automatically Find Lower Prices & Coupons While You Shop! {Review}

PriceBlink is a non-invasive browser add-on that notifies you of coupons available for the retailer your shopping on or if a specific product is available for cheaper on a different retailer's site. Many sites have exclusive coupons through PriceBlink, saving you even more!

PriceBlink is a completely free add-on available for Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari. There is also a free iPad app for on-the-go shopping.

Here are a few quick, notable features:
  • It searches over 4,000 online stores for lower prices while you shop
  • It works quietly in the background and only appears when it can save you money
  • If there are any active coupon codes for the site you're shopping on (such as free shipping), PriceBlink will let you know what they are.
  • It is completely safe/secure and does not collect any personal information
  • Save time as well as money
Check out the video below for a quick explanation of how PriceBlink works:

I downloaded the add-on for Firefox and absolutely love it! It installed in just a few seconds and I didn't even need to restart my browser to start using it. It is extremely unobtrusive and really only appears when I am on store sites. When it does show, it's a long, thin bar that shows across the top of the webpage. No tacky popups or huge boxes. If for some reason I'm not interested in seeing if there are cheaper options elsewhere, I can simply click the "X" on the far side of the bar and it disappears.

I headed to Amazon to test it out. I really liked the fact that it only appeared when I was on an actual product page, and not Amazon itself. As a quick example, I checked out the New Super Mario Bros Wii game. It costs $47.39 on Amazon, but the add-on let me know that I could get it for $35.90 with free shipping at eBay! On the flip-side, I did a price comparison for an Evenflo booster seat. It cost $39 with free shipping on Amazon, and the add-on notified me the the next cheaper price found was $59.99 plus $4.95 shipping on AlbeeBaby.com. So, I quickly knew that I was getting the best possible price!

You are shown only one lower/higher price on the actual add-on, but there is a pull-down menu to use that shows you many other price options. In my case, for the example I gave above for the "lower price found on eBay", this was a great feature. A few years ago I got scammed on eBay and haven't shopped on it since. I clicked the drop-down menu and found that I could also get the game cheaper on NewEgg.com, a site that I am comfortable shopping from.

You'll also find a review feature on the add-on bar. You can easily read reviews for the product you've got your eye on from several different sites without losing the page you originally found the product on. There is also a handy "Wish List" you can use. This is great because you can add products to it that you find from any site. I have so many wish lists out there it's crazy, so it's nice to be able to add everything to ONE list!

If you like to save money, I highly recommend checking out PriceBlink. I will definitely be using it for personal use, but also for work...I do run a deal blog after all!

I'm not the only one who thinks PriceBlink is an awesome add-on. It was awarded the Best Overall Add-on by About.com (with a whopping 75% of votes!), Lifehacker lists it as one of their Top 10 Must-Have Browser Extensions, and it has been featured on The Kim Komando Show. Not to mention, it has a 5/5 star user review rating for Firefox.

$10 for Pant Cuff Fasteners for Kids, Reg $20! (Kids can wear too long pants)

Today at So Lo La' Deals, you can get My Hikes kids' pant cuff fasteners for $10. These regularly cost $20!

I have a set of these for my daughter. She has a little bit of belly, so I have to buy her pants a few sizes too big so we can get them buttoned. So, they fit her fine on the waist, but are way too long for her legs. I just roll the cuff up a few times and secure it with the My Hikes clips. Voila! Pants that fit everywhere.

Here's another practical use of My Hikes. It's summer now....don't spend money on capris, just turn your child's long jeans into them, as shown below! Or say you see a pair of pants on sale that are two sizes to big for your son. Not a problem if you have My Hikes because he can wear them now!

You can choose from 7 designs for boys and girls. After you purchase on the site, you'll need to email So Lo La' Deals your choice of design at info@sololadeals.com. On another note, a shipping charge of $2 will be added at checkout, which still makes for a great deal considering all the money you may be able to save with your set of clips!

For some reason, there is no "Buy Now" button on the information page, but it is on the homepage. If you have trouble finding it, click here to buy it.

2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Review

When I was asked if I would be interested in reviewing the 2012 Outlander Sport, how on Earth could I say no?!

Of course, the first thing I noticed about the car was its appearance. I had seen photos of it, but I was amazed at how beautiful it was in person! The lagoon blue color was gorgeous. All the curves and little details on the body of the car gave it a unique and stylish look. The alloy wheels and headlights literally shone.

The second thing I noticed was the key. I have to be honest, I was a little confused at first. I saw the keyholes, but there was no key to open them with (well, the key is hidden inside and can be released if needed). Obviously, this is my first experience with a key-less car! It took me a few days to realize it, but you don't need to use the key at all to lock/unlock the doors. All you need to do is have it on you, in your pocket or purse. I'm assuming it emits a signal...once you get close enough to the car, you simply push a button next to the handle to operate the locks. This is an awesome feature for those rainy days!

So, I finally figure out how to get the car open, yay! Once in the car, I immediately noticed the huge screen in the middle of the dash. Awesome, a built-in GPS! Turns out, this was much more than just a GPS. It was also a DVD player and is where you could control many aspects/settings of the car like the sound system, lights, locks and more. The entire system is full-color and touchscreen.

The one-touch start/stop engine switch was another first for me. I actually had to pull out the manual to figure out how to turn the car on. Turns out, all I had to do was push the brake down as I pushed the button! Now that the car was on, the first thing I did was turn on the air conditioning (another luxury my current car doesn't offer). It was ice cold in about 30-45 seconds. I loved how the gas and temperature gauges were digital and brightly colored. The whole dash was set up so you could see all the important info easily.

I'm only 5'2", so of course I had to adjust the seat. I was able to quickly raise the seat high enough so I could easily see the hood and road, as well as comfortably reach the pedals. My hubby is a full foot taller than me, but he had plenty of head and leg room in the passenger seat. The back seat was also very roomy. I dread taking my son's car seat in and out of my current car because it barely fits through the door, but I had absolutely no problem getting it in the Outlander Sport. The LATCH system made installation a breeze and I had tons of room to maneuver myself to get it latched on. The trunk opened effortlessly and was also pretty large. The full-sized stroller fit with more than enough room for the diaper bag, groceries, etc. There was a pass-through door for those times you need to transport long items, such as plywood or rods.

Latch system and trunk pass-through
Now it was time to take this baby out on the road! I normally drive a low-to-the-ground sedan, so I was anxious to see how the Outlander Sport would handle. Honestly, the only difference I noticed was that I was higher off the ground. It drove very similar to my car, took turns very well, even accelerated like my car. The brakes were awesome and needed just a slight press.

Me and my hubby went to the store. I stayed in the car, leaving it on. When he got in and I put it in reverse, he actually said, "Is the car on?!" It was so incredibly quiet, even I almost thought it was just rolling back when I took my foot off the brake! As we were driving home, it started drizzling. I was totally surprised when the windshield wipers automatically turned on. Thanks so much for the rain sensor, because I hadn't even checked beforehand to see how to turn on the wipers!

We wanted to really take advantage of this opportunity of having the car, so we decided to take a trip to the Jersey shore. It's a good 85 miles away and would give me a great chance to actually use the car for its review purpose.

I knew how to get to Wildwood, but wanted to use the GPS too, just in case. It was extremely accurate with distances and the directions it gave were very easy to understand. It actually took us on the very route I normally use. It let us know when toll booths were coming up well in advance so we had our money ready. On the way home, it alerted us of a traffic jam and gave us the option of an alternate route and gave an estimate of 17 minutes saved if we took it. I decided not to take the alternate route. Needless to say, a few miles ahead we were in dead-stopped traffic. Next time, I'll definitely take its advice!

The trip itself was extremely enjoyable. The ride was very smooth and quiet. My daughter brought her NDS to play on the way there. When I asked her why she wasn't playing it, she actually said, "I want to enjoy the ride"! I couldn't believe it! The air conditioner worked so well I had to keep it on the lowest blower setting. The 6-speaker stereo sounded great. I was able to use the touchscreen panel to adjust the settings, such as bass, to get it to sound just the way I like it. It was very easy to program my favorite radio stations and I loved how I could change the station and control the volume right from the steering wheel.

The Outlander Sport did a great job of getting back up to highway speed when we had to stop to pay the tolls. Accelerating to pass slower vehicles was fine as well.

Channel/volume, cruise control and hands-free calling are all right on the steering wheel
Another thing that is definitely mentionable are the headlights. Holy cow, were they bright! The wide range, high density lights use xenon gas that creates a beam 35% brighter than regular headlights. It spans 80 degrees, which easily lights up the entire road ahead and on the side of the car. Apparently, when people are in the car, it can affect the range of the beam. The Outlander Sport comes with a nifty dial that has four settings to make up for this loss of range. The high beams were incredible as well. I swear I saw some deers' eyes on the side of the road!

Last, but definitely not least, the fuel economy. It has an estimated 24/31 miles per gallon. I'm not sure if I got that, but I do know when the car got picked up, it had 186 miles on it and had just hit the halfway gone mark. I don't know how far the car traveled after the tank got filled before being dropped off, but I can bet it's safe to say you can get at least 400 miles per tank. I have no clue if that's good or not, but it sure sounds good to me!

Honestly, I could not find a single thing about the vehicle that I did not like. I am fully serious when I say that the day they came to take the car back, I went online to check out various car dealer's sites for pricing. Unfortunately, it's a little bit out of my price range (well, the model I want is!) at the moment, but I will definitely be considering the Outlander Sport for when we are able to make a new car purchase. I encourage anybody to take one out for a test drive..I'm sure you will fall in love with it just as quickly as I did!

Click here to read another post that includes more information about the Outlander Sport's safety features, options and more.

I was loaned the vehicle shown above for one week for review purposes only. No other compensation was received. All opinions are 100% my own.

2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport: Safety, Style & Fun

If I was asked to describe the 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport in three words, they would be safety, style and fun. I was given the opportunity to test drive this crossover SUV for an entire week. Before I get into my personal review, I'd like elaborate more on those three words.

Safety:
The Outlander Sport was awarded an IIHS "Top Safety Pick" for its performance in front, side, rollover, and rear impact collisions. On top of that, it comes standard with an amazing safety system comprised of seven airbags, including driver knee and side curtain airbags. The Active Stability Control feature (again, standard) uses sensors that constantly monitor the grip of the tires on the road. If the wheels slip at all, the anti-lock brake system intelligently applies the brake as needed, providing a great sense of control. Moms will be happy to hear that there is a latch system in place to ensure car seats are properly installed and secure. Equally reassuring are the child-safety rear door locks.

Style:
Do you prefer elegant, beautiful cars? Or are you more into playful and sporty ones? Well, the Outlander Sport flawlessly combines both looks! The interior is just as stylish. The dash is digital and in full-color, providing easily visual information such as temperature, fuel level, and much more. The steering wheel and shift knob are both wrapped in leather, and the door levers are a shiny chrome. Not only is the car obviously stylish, but a new driver will be surprised to find several "hidden", yet very functional, accessories. To name a few: there is a hidden pocket tissue holder in the center console, along with a USB port and electrical supply. You'll find a nifty pen and card holder in the glove box. The center console is moveable, allowing shorter folks to be able to enjoy the elbow rest.

Fun:
The Fuse Hands-Free Link System is a mobile command center, featuring Bluetooth technology and speech recognition. This system lets you to hook up your phone and MP3 players and allows you to control them virtually hands-free. Simply tap a button and say a voice command to make a phone call or play a specific song. The one-touch start/stop engine switch and fast-key entry eliminates the hassle of searching for keys and lets you quickly enter the car, perfect for those rainy days! The steering-wheel-mounted audio controls allow you to change the radio station and volume without taking your eyes of the road. Cruise control is also found on the steering wheel. The optional 40GB HDD Navigation System feature is a large 7" full-color LCD touchscreen that will prevent you from getting lost, providing vocal turn-by-turn directions and real-time traffic updates. The built-in music server allows you to store many hours of your favorite music.

Here are some other very mentionable features: (please note that some are optional)
24/31 gas mileage, super wide range HID headlamps, 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, panoramic glass roof with LED mood lighting, steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, service reminder system, all-wheel control, anti-theft alarm system, hill start assist, automatic climate control, heated front seats, trunk pass-through, power windows, mirrors and locks, auto on/off headlamps, rain sensing wipers, side turn indicators, and fog lights.

You can find much more information regarding features, options and pricing at the Mitsubishi website.
